Pokes

Pretty much any time I have a spare moment to draw for myself it ends up being Pokemon. The new generation is just too good. Me and my charmander have come a long way together since Blue.
Also my babby noivern, Wenesday. She killed it in the Elite Four.

The semester just ended yesterday, so I hope to upload my projects from the Fall pretty soon.

November Sketch Dump

Just a handful of things from the eight different sketchbooks I can't choose between. There's some development sketching for the storyboards I've been working on the last few months as well as some other personal characters and of course, pokemon. If you're not playing XY, you're seriously missing out.

Plus! Invader Zim sketches I did for fun the other week while I was revisiting the series. STILL GREAT.

July-September

Over the summer I got really into Pacific Rim. Newt in particular struck a chord with me. Not to mention Ron Perlman retweeted my sketch of his character with Charlie Day's. Which was pretty exciting.

Also I'm really into Pokemon right now, good luck trying to talk to me about anything else.

Until next time!

Mallancholy Comics

A few years back a little indie publisher called DAPShow put out a call for a gothic themed anthology, appropriately named, The Gothology. The following are my contributions to volumes 1, 2 and the never finished volume 3. This was a pretty big step into comics for me.  The first one is from ~*2009*~ so the art's pretty bad, this is your warning.

Making the jump to 2010, look at that improvement.

Hooooooo look at that 2011 artwork. The cast gets a major design overhaul. Except for Noel, who's only real change was that I had taken figure drawing.

Unfortunately volume 3 was never published, so at the time I didn't feel the need to continue the story but I wish I had gone further into the last one. These guys were a lot of fun to work with and it's cool taking a look back at these little shorts. Maybe they'll come back one day. Maybe.

May-July

Dang I was really good about updating this regularly for a while what happened.
I guess I forgot to upload this one, but this was the "generations" project from the beginning of Barron Story's class. I call it "A History of Tight Pants and Torn Leggings".

A couple new prints I made for Fanime this year, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls and Canti (FLCL) meets BMO. All three went over really well.
Sketches from two of my favorite movies this summer, Pacific Rim and Monster's University. Ron Perlman tweeted my drawing of Hannibal Chau how bananas is that?
I've also been playing a lot of Animal Crossing this summer. A lot.
A couple things featuring characters from Darkness and Dekay and my yet to be named Urban Fantasy project.

Pro/Con and Holy Hell Hotel

My last two assignments for Barron Story's class!

This was the Pro/Con assignment, in which we were to take a stance on something we feel strongly about and create an image representing that in one 2.5 hour class period. I did a marker and ink drawing of my feelings against needless shark finning, and pro-shark conservation. Because sharks are the best.
For our last project the class chose a concept and a title for a class made zine. Our zine is called The Holy Hell Hotel, and we all created spreads based on this idea, and by the end of the semester we're all going to have a book filled with our classmate's work. I'm pretty excited, because some how we managed to create a cohesive story throughout the book without much planning. I'll post pictures once we get them printed and bound!

Crew of You

For Barron Story's class, in which we had to design six characters based on different aspects of our own personality, set in the same universe. Here is my rag-tag crew of Kyle, the amateur ghost hunter, and a rouges gallery of different monsters.
And my final illustration! Sketched in pencil, inked with a pentel pocket brush and sakura micron pens, colored in photoshop.
Between designing the cast and completing the final image, we got to spend a few classes getting to know our characters and the world they live in. First we spent a class building characters out of clay, and second we built dioramas of our set designs and used multiple flashlights and gels to create a lighting concept. It's amazing how much lighting did for my little box set!

And for funzies, I put together a couple work in progress shots of the final image.
